How to prevent fake check-ins: four checks

QR signature, device, location and face — a plain-language look at what is verified on every check-in.

In short

A single QR scan is not enough. On every check-in QRLog answers four questions: is the code genuine, is this the employee's phone, is the employee in the right place, and is the person scanning really them?

What is the problem?

On a paper log, anyone can sign for a colleague. A simple QR code can also be photographed and scanned from somewhere else. As a result, managers do not see the real picture, and employees’ work is calculated incorrectly.

QRLog solves this not with one check but with four layers. Each layer asks a different question.

1. QR signature

Question: is the code genuine?

The QR poster at your workplace is not just a picture. It contains a digital signature that the system verifies. If the code has been altered, forged or has expired, the check-in is rejected.

2. Device

Question: is this the employee’s phone?

Each employee is linked to their own phone. An attempt to check in from someone else’s account or from a different phone is recognised by the system.

3. Location

Question: is the employee in the right place?

At the moment of scanning, the phone’s GPS data is checked. If the employee is not inside the defined area of the branch, the check-in is not completed. That is why photographing the QR poster and scanning it from home does not work.

The goal is not to watch employees, but to make sure the work of honest people is counted correctly.

4. Face

Question: is the person scanning really them?

On check-in, the front camera takes a photo and it is automatically compared with the employee’s reference face. If there is a mismatch, that row is flagged in the manager’s panel.

An important privacy point: the check-in photo is visible only in such flagged rows. There is no separate photo gallery.

Conclusion

When the four checks work together, the “let a friend scan for me” trick becomes much harder, and managers see real attendance at the end of the day.
